Norris' Polk Street San Francisco 1895 - 1897
The Branch Post Office with Doc's parlors above. The Branch PO was at 309 Polk, and years later a real dentist moved into the address above.
The coffee joint next door to Doc's parlors. Glavinovich and Browns at 1210 1/2 Polk Street.
Frenna's (between the coffee joint and Doc's parlors) was named for Joseph Frenna of 1207 Polk, a barber. Burmeister's groceries and liquors
A confectionary store Huber's at 1308 Polk
A bell hangers shop Frizzi's at 1324 Polk
Chairs were rented for Trina's wedding from a nearby dancing school. Lunt's Dancing School at 1310 Polk was opposite 309, and also where Norris went to dancing school.
Uncle Oelbermann's toy business and Trina's toy carving and painting. O.Vrachliotti at 1206 Polk and Fannie Guttman's at 1330 Polk were toy making companies where workers carved and painted wooden toys.
Heise, Doc's pal, a harness marker Walter L. Heise of 905 Sutter and owner of California Wagon and Carriage Shop.
Loughhead's wife, a patient Loughhead Hall at 1605 Polk Street
Polk Street Improvement Club's Polk Street Open Air Festival In 1896 the Polk Street Fiesta of the Polk Street Improvement Association held a three day festival to celebrate their new electric lights. The Grand Marshal and King was Joe Frenna.
Trina gives Doc with a large gilded tooth to hang outside his second floor parlor windows on Polk Street Dr. D. L. McTeague had a large gilded tooth hanging from his office windows at the corner of Geary and Kearney. A stereopticon circa 1878 shows this street scene and identifies the dentist as Dr. Lawrence Libbey
John "Doc" McTeague Dr. D. L. McTeague was a well known dentist in downtown San Francisco.
